Chicago Area Social Security Pending Cases - March 2007

Do you ever wonder why it seems to take forever for a Social Security case to be heard by an Administrative Law Judge? There are four local Illinois Social Security hearing offices in the Chicago region. Each Chicago area office has about 8-10 assigned Judges to handle the caseload. As of September 30, 2006, each office had the following number of total cases pending:

  • Orland Park - 3,551
  • Chicago - 6,297
  • Evanston - 3,190
  • Oakbrook Terrace - 4,346

If you are reading this and wondering why it is taking so long to get your hearing date, at least you know are in good company!
