2008 Cost of Living Adjustments and Other Changes
Persons receiving Disability Insurance Benefits will get a 2.3% cost of living increase.
The SSI (Supplemental Security Income) maximum was increased to $637.00 per month.
In order to receive a quarter of coverage in 2008, a person must have taxable gross earnings over $1,050.00.
Persons who are collecting early retirement benefits, can now earn $1,130.00 per month before benefits begin to get reduced.
The trial work period amount has increased to $670.00 per month.
Monthly income which constitutes "substantial" gainful activity is $940.00.
